Home, Cabin & Office Repair, Maintenance and Improvements

The name Arlis is not only Kent's father's name but it is his and his youngest son Wyatt's middle names.

It was important to pass the name down.

Kent's dad was an electrician who worked full time repairing rock crushers but was also his community's "fix-it" guy.

Kent served one term in the US Army as was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist. His Army occupation was "field cook", this may have been the only time Kent regretted taking his dad's advice. Arlis knew that his son would be safer as a cook than as infintry. Despite his cook status, Kent went on through jump school (which helps to explain why 40 ft ladders, 100 ft trees and climbing around of roof tops doesn't scare him). Additionally, Kent was raised with  both a healthy respect and a formal education in the use of firearms. He's an avid outdoorsman, hunter and conservationalist. Kent's childhood training is no doubt a large part of why he was able to earn the Army's highest awards for marksmanship.

After leaving the Army, Kent moved to Florida. There he enjoyed fishing the gulf waters. He took up ocean kayaking, rode a bicycle nearly everywhere and worked in various construction trades. He spent a number of years painting many of the hotels in Tampa, Sarasota, Venice and North Port, FL.

In 1996 his job with a Publix subcontrator brought him and his close friend Jason King to Georgia. Two years later he met his wife Tess.

Having grown up with a self-employed father, Tess encouraged Kent to start his own business. He started out painting homes and doing repair carpentry. When Kent and Tess moved to Blue Ridge after the birth of thier daughter Sylviana Kent expanded his business to include all of the services offered to date.

In 2003, thier son Wyatt was born. Sylvi and Wyatt have an older brother Wade.

Today Kent still enjoys the outdoors and especially loves hunting with his boys (although Sylvi is the best shot). Kent and Tess have four horses and two dogs. Tess publishes a horse magazine, manages several websites and is a publicist and marketing consultant within the equestrian industry.
